Guidance and orientation system
The guidance and orientation system at TU Darmstadt enables students, employees and visitors to find their way around the University site better.
The guidance and orientation system comprises systematic orientation in 7 levels, starting with the external area and continuing through to the internal areas of the building.
- S = Stadtmitte (city centre)
- B = Botanischer Garten (botanical gardens)
- L = Lichtwiese
- H = Hochschulstadion (University stadium)
- W = Windkanal (wind tunnel)
Site plans at the key points of contact provide information about the location of the site and the associated section.
Stadtmitte (S) site
- Section 1 = Centre
- Section 2 = North
- Section 3 = South
- Section 4 = External areas
Botanischer Garten (B) site
- Section 1 = Schnittspahnstraße West
- Section 2 = Schnittspahnstraße East
Lichtwiese (L) site
- Section 1 = Mechanical Engineering
- Section 2 = Chemistry / Materials Science
- Section 3 = Architecture
- Section 4 = Canteen
- Section 5 = Civil Engineering
Hochschulstadion (H) site
- Section 1 = Hochschulstadion
Windkanal (W) site
- Section 1 = Wind tunnel
- Section 2 = August Euler airfield
The site signs indicate the route to the individual buildings within the sections.

The buildings themselves are fitted with building numbers on red rectangular signs.
The building numbers are comprised are follows:
S1|01 (city centre, section 1, building 01)
This makes it possible to identify the geographical location of the building (city centre or Lichtwiese, etc.) using the building numbers.

Building overviews that show the individual user groups of the building are on display in some selected buildings with a high proportion of visitors.
You can generally find these overviews in the entrance areas of the buildings.

The floor overviews provide information about room allocation on the respective floor.

Door signs indicate the room allocation with reference to the department, position and name of the person.
The door sign templates are available for you to fill in yourself.
Notations for building designations with room number

We recommend that you use one of these three notations for internal use in order to present a consistent image externally.
