In the last weeks, digital on-site-visits of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (etit) took place as part of their institutional evaluation. The evaluation committees with experts in the respective fields are headed by Prof. Helmut Bölcskei (etit, ETH Zürich) and Prof. Wolfgang Schröder-Preikschat (Information Technology, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg). During two and a half days, each evaluation committee held intensive discussions with various status groups, the departmental offices, the institutes, and internal and external cooperation partners of the respective departments.
Due to the Corona pandemic, the evaluation talks took place in virtual conferences. Beforehand the departments provided the evaluation committee with a self-report as result of its self-evaluation. The discussions during the conference focused on questions from the TU Darmstadt´s Executive Board as well as the Department regarding structure and organisation, strategy, research and early career researchers, as well as studying and teaching. Special attention was paid to the further development of the degree programmes, diversity management, internationalisation and technology transfer (Computer Science) as well as research profile, the department’s workshops and diversity management (etit). The assessment of the departments is the basis for the evaluation report of each committee. Their recommendations play a major role in the agreement on objectives between the Executive Board and the respective department.
