What does ‘versioning’ mean with respect to a doctoral thesis and how does it work?

The purpose of versioning a doctoral thesis is to ensure that the copy uploaded on TUprints is the correct version, in other words, the version that was approved by the first assessor. This is why a thesis and the first assessor’s approval for printing need to be assigned a version number, which includes the date followed by the file name (for example, YYYYMMDD<name_thesis>.*).

The name of the file is visible once it has been published and can no longer be changed.
