EDuStart
Study Successfully at TU Darmstadt

EDuStart is an acronym for "Board -Start – Fly: Studying Successfully at TU Darmstadt". The QuiS project aims to strengthens the good conditions for studying and teaching at TU Darmstadt through a combination of innovative pilot projects and proven measures.

EDuStart Shapes Good Teaching

With EDuStart, TU Darmstadt is consistently pursuing its path of continous and sustainable improvement of study conditions.

EDuStart – Pilot Projects

The EDuStart pilot projects explicitly address diversity, heterogeneity and various facets of internationalization. Another focus is on quality assurance in teaching and learning.

P1 Diversity Education Office
In addition to the development of the diversity strategy in general, this sub-project specifically identifies discrimination risks at the TU Darmstadt. It also links existing workshop and training offers on the subject, and provides employees and students with training and advice on diversity-related topics. Further information on the Diversity Education Office can be found here Diversity at the TU Darmstadt
P2 Development and Quality Assurance of International and Cooperative Study Programs
In this sub-project, standardized processes for the quality management of international study programs at the TU Darmstadt are designed and implemented. Furthermore, the range of English-language Master's programs as well as joint and double degree programs will be expanded and further developed in a quality-assured manner.
P3 Cooperative Quality Assurance of Teacher Training Programs
The sub-project is dedicated to the complex processes of quality assurance in the teacher training programs “Teacher Training for Grammar Schools” and “Teacher Training for Vocational Schools”. Under changing legal conditions, it optimizes the interface between the central administrative unit for the development of study programs, the Center for Teacher Education and the departments.
P4 Unite! Virtual Exchange Credit Program
This sub-project provides students with the opportunity to experience studying abroad in a new form, complementary to physically studying abroad. Through a virtual course program, students can take courses from all nine Unite! Partners and earn credit points. For more information on the Virtual Exchange Program, visit the website of the Unite alliance
P5 Orientation Phase in Engineering
It is often difficult for prospective students to recognize the differences between the engineering subjects and to choose the one that suits them best. The aim of the sub-project is to develop and test a cross-departmental, target-group-oriented engineering orientation service.
P6 PreBachelor
In this sub-project, we develop and test an ENG-specific preperation program for prospective students from all over the world. This will help to increase the success of international students in their studies. Further information on the program can be found on the website of PreBachelor

EDuStart – Proven Measures

Supported by the EDuStart project funding, several measures can be further developed and continued that have already proven their positive effect on the quality of studies at TU Darmstadt.

These include the online mathematics pre-course VEMINT, the mathematics tutoring “Treffpunkte Mathematik”, preparatory courses for refugees who would like to enter university level education in Germany, multiple teaching experiences for students training to be school teachers (Praxisphase II), study orientation for school students via our program students@school, a short term study preparation programm for international students PreCIS, the DLR_School_Lab and measures to strengthen peer teaching at TU Darmstadt.
