Unit VIII E – International Student Services
Unit VIII E, International Student Services (ISS), is a contact point at the Technical University of Darmstadt that is specially designed for international and exchange students, and prospective students with a refugee background. The team from ISS offers versatile support in organizing their stay in Germany and guides them on their way to studying.
Target Groups
All our services are specially designed for the following target groups:
- International students and exchange students: We offer services from arrival to successful completion of studies.
- Prospective students with a refugee background: For this target group, we offer specific advisory and orientation events as well as preparatory German language courses facilitating access to studying in Germany.
Services
In general, offer a large portfolio of services and programmes that support international students and prospective students with a refugee background: International Student Services
- Organizing the stay in Germany: Support with visa and residence permit issues.
- Path to study with a refugee background: Special advisory services, events, and courses fostering the learning of the German language before studies for people with a refugee background.
- Social and cultural events: Events for exchange, social get-togethers, and an international campus atmosphere.
- Study financing and scholarships: Consulation for different ways of financing; scholarship programs of TU Darmstadt, including emergency support

- Welcome and orientation programs ( and X-Weeks ): Programs allowing for an easier start to studies and life in Germany. Kick-Off Days

Consulting, Accompaniment, Information
The ISS team provides comprehensive consulting and accompaniment along the mentioned topics. Our lines of communication and consulting services are kept versatile, open, and easily accessible:

Structure and Organization
The following different departments are integrated into Unit VIII E to guarantee specialized consulting:
- : Manages all issues and matters concerning new students who have a refugee background. ZKF (Central Coordination Office for Refugees)
- : Offers assistance to international students through experienced tutors whose duty is to combat socio-cultural issues, and serve study groups, and services. TUtor International
The entire International Student Services team assists international students and prospective students regarding all questions about studying and living in Germany to ensure that they have a successful stay at TU Darmstadt.
