Foreigners Office
The foreigners authorities or offices is the competent authority for measures and decisions concerning residence and passport law in accordance with the Act on the Residence, Employment and Integration of Foreigners in the Federal Republic of Germany and in accordance with provisions of immigration law.
The foreigner‘s authorities are thus responsible for converting a visa into a residence permit.
International students and researchers must always contact the foreigner’s office responsible for their place of residence.
