Electoral office

The Electoral Office is responsible for the preparation and organisation of university elections, staff council elections, JAV elections, elections for representatives of the severely disabled, elections for the student assistant council and elections for the German Research Foundation. We also accept resignations from university committees and carry out the procedure for nominating successors. If you require a certificate of your committee activity, we will be happy to issue one for you.

Actual Elections

The election of the Student Assistant Council will take place in the winter semester 2024/2025.

Detailed election information can be found on the homepage of the electoral office, in particular the election announcement and the schedule, after the first meeting of the electoral board. The meeting of the electoral board will take place on 14 October 2024. These documents will be published as soon as the schedule and the election notice have been adopted.

The by-election for the deputy members of the Representative Body for Severely Disabled Employees will take place in September 2024. The elections are required in accordance with Section 17 SchwbWVO, as there are no deputy members left for the remainder of the term of office of the Representative Body for Severely Disabled Employees. At its meeting on 8 August 2024, the election committee decided in accordance with Section 2 (4) SchwbVWO and in line with the election notice dated 24 August 2022 that 4 deputy members are to be elected in this by-election. The number of candidates named on an election proposal may not exceed the number of deputy members according to the election notice (Section 6 SchwbVWO). In accordance with Section 11 (2) SchwbWVO, the election committee has decided to vote in writing (postal vote). The election documents will be sent unsolicited to eligible voters by the electoral office from 2 September 2024

The submission of election proposals was possible until Monday, 26 August 2024, 15:00. Within this period, a list of nominations was submitted that fulfils the formal admission requirements and has been approved by the election committee for the by-election of the deputy members of the representative body for severely disabled employees. Instead of electronic voting, a personal postal vote is possible on request. An application for this could be submitted to the electoral office by 13 June 2024, 15:00.

For the winter semester 2024/2025, the student seats on the committees of the Joint Commission of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) – Group II (students) – and the Student Council of the Department of ESE, the Faculty Council of Department 3 – Group II (students) and the Student Council of Psychology are vacant.
In order to be able to fill the committees, supplementary elections have been requested in accordance with Section 33 (7) of the TU Darmstadt election regulations, which the election committee will decide on at its meeting on 17 September 2024. In accordance with § 97 (7) of the Hessian Staff Representation Act (HPVG), a student assistant council is to be elected at the Technical University of Darmstadt.

The election of the Student Assistant Council took place from 27 February 2024 to 4 March 2024 as an electronic election with the option of postal voting on request.
The term of office of the members of the Student Assistant Council begins on 1 April 2024 and ends on 31 March 2025.

All persons who are employed as student assistants at TU Darmstadt at the time of submitting the election proposal are eligible to vote (eligible to stand for election).

The submission of election proposal lists was possible until Friday, 12.01.2024, 16:00. At its meeting on 16 January 2024, the election committee approved the following list of nominations for the election of the Student Assistant Council:

The election of review board members of the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the term of office 2024 – 2028 took place from 23 October 2023 to 20 November 2023.

The overall voter turnout is 36.5 %. The voter turnout at the Technical University of Darmstadt is 44.98 %.

The 2023 University Elections took place electronically during the election period from June 12, 2023 to June 19, 2023.
