Kick-off meeting for the 3rd institutional evaluation of the Department of Biology

Preparations for second evaluation
In preparation for the application for system reaccreditation, the TU-Darmstadt and its quality assurance system are currently undergoing an assessment. After the self-report was submitted to the accreditation agency ZEvA in August 2022, the first evaluation by external experts took place in November 2022. The focus of the evaluation was the integrated quality management of the TU as well as the procedures of quality assurance and internal accreditation of the study programs. The preliminary interim conclusion of the six-member commission acknowledges the close link between institutional evaluation and program development as a holistic, convincing approach and underscores the university-wide, lively discussion and quality culture.

Quality management within the European network Unite!

Unite! staff week
From 9th to 11th November staff of the European university network Unite! come together at Technical University Darmstadt to discuss the joint quality management of the European alliance. Nine partners belong to the alliance: TU Darmstadt (Germany), Aalto University (Finland), KTH Royal Institute of Tech-nology (Sweden), Grenoble ING-UGA (France), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Universidade de Lisboa (Por-tugal), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain) and – new partners since November only – Technical University Graz (Austria) as well as Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland). General Secretary of the alliance, Andreas Winkler, welcomed the participants and underlined in his speech the importance of the working group for the whole network. Head of the working group is Michelle Mallwitz and her team of the “quality management” at TU Darmstadt. After working together for almost three years digitally and compiling a Unite! manual on quality man-agement already, the group meets for the first time face to face. During the three days’ workshop – besides getting to know TU Darmstadt during a campus tours and parts of the city of Darmstadt (Unesco World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe) – the main focus is on a common strategy plan on how the alliance can comply with and guarantee quality in the future.

Self-report for system reaccreditation submitted to ZEvA

Milestone in the system reaccreditation procedure
The TU Darmstadt has finalised its self-report for the system reaccreditation and submitted it to the accreditation agency ZEvA. In the self-report, the TU Darmstadt describes its integrated quality management with a strong focus on the processes for the development and the quality assurance as well as for the internal accreditation of the study programmes. Based on the self-report, external experts will assess the integrated quality management during two on-site visits in November 2022 and April 2023. The self-report is the result of a university-wide process in which the qualitymanagement of the study programms was comprehensively revised to meet the current legal regulations. A Senate´s working group accompanied the development of quality management and the preparation of the self-report.
