Evaluation of the Department of Biology

Biology at TU Darmstadt reviewed by external evaluation committee
The on-site visit of the Department of Biology took place from 1 to 3 November 2023 as part of the institutional evaluation: An evaluation committee of external experts led by Prof. Dr Reinhard Jahn (Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences) conducted two and a half days of intensive discussions with representatives of the department as well as with internal and external cooperation partners of the department. This was preceded by an internal self-evaluation of the department and the preparation of a self-evaluation report to prepare the reviewers for the dialogue with the department and the Executive Board. The discussions focused on questions from the Executive Board and the department on the topics of research and appointment planning, studying and teaching, including the new/further development of study programmes on a conceptual basis, as well as the department-specific topic on diversity. The reviewers' evaluation report is expected by the end of December 2023. Based on the evaluation report, an agreement on objectives will be concluded between the Department of Biology and the Executive Board by summer semester 2024.
