Digital evaluation of the Institute of Materials Science

External expert commission conducts exciting discussions and makes valuable initial recommendations for the further development of the institute
From February 8 to 10, 2022, the evaluation of the Institute of Materials Science took place within the framework of the institutional evaluation. The evaluation commission of external experts in materials science under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Matthias Wuttig (RWTH Aachen University) held intensive discussions with the professors, representatives of the group of early career researchers, students, and administrative-technical staff over two and a half days. The commission also had interesting and in-depth discussions with internal and external cooperation partners of the institute. The focus of these entertaining review discussions with active participation of all participants were the questions of the presidium and the institute on the topics of structure and organization, strategy, research and promotion of early career researchers, as well as studies and teaching. Another focus was on the cross-cutting issues of internationalization and diversity. The evaluation commission has already given first valuable recommendations and tips for the further development of the institute at the end of the inspection. Based on the expected evaluation report of the commission, an agreement on objectives will be concluded between the institute and the presidium in the summer semester of 2022 for the next five to six years.

Evaluation of the Department of Mathematics

Department reviewed by external evaluation committee.
The digital visit of the Department of Mathematics took place during the first week of February. This evaluation is part of the institutional evaluation at TU Darmstadt. An evaluation committee of external expert reviewers came together on 3rd and 4th February of 2022 under the chair of Prof. Dr.-Ing Karl Kunisch. The evaluation committee held intensive discussions with members of the department of Mathematics as well as internal and external cooperative partners of the respective group. Beforehand, a briefing discussion between the committee, the president and the Departmental Office took place on the 1st February.

Economy and quality management gave valuable input for the further development of Unite!
External stakeholders see the European University alliance Unite! on a good way to achieve a new quality of academic exchange and university networking in Europe. Representatives from regional economy, national quality assurance agencies and alumni of Unite! partner universities were invited to a digital “Unite! Quality Forum” to comment on the quality objectives and quality management and to give impulses for their further development.

Agreement on objectives of the Department of Chemistry signed in July 2021

Institutional evaluation successfully completed
With the signing of the agreement on objectives, the Institutional Evaluation of the Department of Chemistry was completed in July 2021. Due to the ongoing corona pandemic, the on-site visit planned for June 2020 was postponed to November 2020 and conducted as a digital event. The evaluation committee assessed the department on the basis of the department’s self-report and the discussions during the on-site-visit.

Evaluation of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (etit)

Departments reviewed by external evaluation committees
In the last weeks, digital on-site-visits of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (etit) took place as part of their institutional evaluation. The evaluation committees with experts in the respective fields are headed by Prof. Helmut Bölcskei (etit, ETH Zürich) and Prof. Wolfgang Schröder-Preikschat (Information Technology, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg). During two and a half days, each evaluation committee held intensive discussions with various status groups, the departmental offices, the institutes, and internal and external cooperation partners of the respective departments.
